Dear Sisters, Brothers & Siblings,
After the recent CUPE 4500 job action, Unifor National filed a grievance on behalf of all Local 111 and 2200 members attempting to recover lost wages for the two days job action by CUPE 4500. We have consulted with both the National Legal Department and a Vancouver based law firm on this grievance and have resolved the grievance with the Employer.
The Employer has agreed for our members to be able to access their unallocated current or banked time. Employees must advise of their intent to participate in this resolution by March 8, 2024. After this date, requests will not be accepted. We know this isn’t completely what our members were looking for, but this is the avenue we were advised to take.
Meanwhile, National President Lana Payne’s office will be in contact with the office of the CEO of Coast Mountain regarding an in person meeting to discuss broader labour relations issues. We will keep you updated.
Thank you again for working in solidarity through a difficult situation for all.
In Solidarity,
Mike Smith (Unifor 2200)
Balbir Mann (Unifor 111)
Ben Williams (Unifor National)
