Message to our Members: Bell Pension Plan

Share

The Council has received many calls from concerned members regarding the recent Bell communication sent out on March 30th pertaining to the negotiated Bell Aliant DB / DC pension plans. The Council shares many of these same concerns and also have questions regarding the information sent out in the Bell notification message.

Those concerns include, the uncollaborative approach by the Bell management team, of advising the union membership that major changes to their pension plans are imminent upon the expiration of the current Collective Agreement, prior to any type of negotiations with the Council. The Council continues to prepare for bargaining at the end of 2017 and will be exploring all options, with the goal of retaining the other benefits also included in our Collective Agreement and the provisions of our existing Bell Aliant DB / DC pension plans.

The purpose of this communication is to let you know that the Council has reached out to our Unifor National to obtain more information and advice from both the Unifor Pension/Benefits Department and the Unifor Legal Department. Once we have this information and have decided on a formal response to the company, the Council will update the membership.

Thank you for your continued support.

In Solidary,

Unifor ACL
