We are excited to announce the results of our recent Local 531 Executive Board election and to introduce our newly elected officers!
First, we want to thank all candidates who ran for positions — your dedication, passion, and willingness to stand up for your coworkers make our Local stronger and more united.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Breanne Laihow, who has served as YVR Unit Chair for the past three years. Breanne’s contributions to our Local — from organizing and bargaining to advocating for members every day — have been invaluable. She will be greatly missed, and her impact on the Local will not be forgotten.
Thank you as well to Kara Jahn, our Recording Secretary, for her dedication and contributions to the Executive Board. Her efforts have helped keep our Local organized, informed, and moving forward.
Congratulations to Elaine Keras, YVR Trustee for her acclimation for a second term, Mark Enns re-election as Secretary Treasurer, Sherwin Antonio as YYC Unit Chair, Jagreet Sandhu as YYC Trustee and Karen Berry as President.
Please join us in welcoming Heather Benson, our newly elected YVR Unit Chair, and Kristie Ihogho, our new Recording Secretary. Both Heather and Kristie will officially take office on December 8, and we will spend the month of December providing them with training to set them up for success. Until then, Mark will continue in the role of YVR Unit Chair, and Kara will remain as Recording Secretary to ensure a smooth transition. We are looking forward to a strong and productive year ahead, working together to serve the members of Unifor Local 531.
