Union democracy is an important part of Unifor. Every member had an opportunity to participate in choosing the coworkers who will represent them as we prepare for our first round of collective bargaining.

The Role of Alternates
Alternates are identified based on the next-highest election results. Should an elected bargaining committee member be unable to continue or fulfill their responsibilities, the alternate may be called upon to serve, in accordance with the applicable election procedures.
What Happens Next?
With the elections behind us, we can now focus on preparing for collective bargaining.
Your newly elected committee will receive training and support from Unifor as we begin the process of identifying members' priorities, developing bargaining proposals and preparing to negotiate our first collective agreement with WestJet.
This is an exciting milestone. For the first time, WestJet Contact Centre employees will have their own democratically selected bargaining committee, made up of coworkers who understand your work and the changes you want to achieve.
