Campaigns

Metro Vancouver Transit Police launched a public awareness campaign on March 31, 2014 about attacks on bus drivers and ongoing harassment.

“Don’t Touch The Operator” is the name of the campaign and spokesperson Anne Drennan says it comes after a series of attacks and ongoing harassment towards bus drivers.

The message:

“It isn’t okay to take out frustrations or anger on a bus operator, that everybody deserves respect in their workplace and that buses are in fact the work place or places of work for our bus operators.”

Drennan says the campaign will include YouTube videos shedding light on attacks against bus operators – which she says often come after people who are frustrated in their work or personal life, and take it out on the bus drivers.
